According to the Helicopter Association International, 20 civil helicopter accidents occurred in the Unites States alone in the first quarter of 2014 (from January 1 through March 31). Seven fatalities have also resulted in the first quarter of the year.
Helicopters are an engineering feat and, as a result, there are many components that must work together in order for the machine to properly operate in a manner that is safe.
My firm worked on a helicopter crash case that took place in the outback of Australia. A rancher utilized a helicopter to cover his wide expanse of land used to raise cattle. During the flight, a problem occurred in the tail rotor, which caused the helicopter to crash. View the video below to hear more details of the case:
The manufacturer of the helicopter that crashed is a company based in the United States. We filed suit both against the manufacturer and the repair facility that serviced the helicopter before it crashed. More information on this case can be found on the Robinson Helicopter Crashes page.
Another aviation case my firm represented involved a plane accident that occurred off the coast of Greece. A confidential settlement was obtained in the high seven figures.
