Self-driving cars seem to be the next big thing in the automotive industry. The Google self-driving car has been in the news for a while as it has been tested, but things have really heated up with the release of the Tesla Autopilot system.
This system is supposed to simply be an enhanced form of cruise control. However, some people are testing its limits.
In a recent video released by a Tesla owner, it shows the inside of a Tesla driving down a freeway with no one in the drivers seat.
While this might be a fun experiment for the driver, it is in no way legal or safe to do. This autopilot system is meant to be used under the surveillance of the driver, not in place of the driver.
In addition, a new study has just been released that self-driving cars are more prone to accidents than cars driven by humans.
While this technology might be something that becomes able to safely navigate people in the future, it’s not meant for that right now.
The good news is that Tesla did make a statement after seeing several of these disturbing videos. They are going to be making an update to put more constraints on the Autopilot system to eliminate the opportunity to allow the car to drive on its own.
