Rick has received this honor for 8 years in a row. The term influential in this case is someone who can influence positive change in the community in various areas – from behind the scenes.
As board president for the SCV Committee on Aging, he was integral in getting a one-time $100,000 donation from the city to keep the Senior Center’s home-delivered meals program alive. Patterson, who has worked with the Committee on Aging for years, appealed to the city by describing how the home delivery program is “sometimes — often — this is the only contact some (of the recipients)have with other people.”
“Rick Patterson has provided many years of volunteer service to the seniors in the Santa Clarita community,” said Rachelle Dardeau, executive director of the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center. “The Santa Clarita Valley Committee on Aging Board of Directors and staff, volunteers, and seniors of the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center thank him for his enduring support and dedication.
”While he has called the Senior Center his favorite charity, Patterson also served on the Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation, a nonprofit that develops sites for public schools and generated $25 million in assets for the benefit of local schools.
