RISPERDAL® GYNECOMASTIA LAWSUITS
The manufacturer of this drug, Johnson & Johnson, is being served hundreds of lawsuits for numerous reasons, including the alleged off-label marketing of Risperdal® to treat conditions such as ADHD, depression, among others, as well as its links to the condition of gynecomastia in boys and men.
Gynecomastia, a potentially humiliating condition, can cause a myriad of symptoms, including, but not limited to:
Tenderness around breasts
Swelling of the nipples
Breast enlargement
Nipple discoloration
Spikes in blood sugar levels
Swallowing difficulties
Weight gain
Why does the use of Risperdal® cause gynecomastia? Researchers indicate in a 2006 study in the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology that the use of Risperdal® leads to an increase in the levels of the hormone prolactin. Prolactin stimulates and promotes the development of breast tissue. The long-term effects of taking this drug are still not determined. Future complications could potentially ensue.
Our firm is investigating potential lawsuits on behalf of patients who used Risperdal®, and fell victim to the off-label marketing of the drug, as well as potential lawsuits on behalf of young boys and men who used Risperdal® and developed gynecomastia, and/or other side effects as a result of using the drug.
If you or a loved one has suffered from the off-labeling tactics of Risperdal®, or developed gynecomastia or other medical conditions as a result of using the drug, you should consult with our firm to determine if you are eligible to file a claim. Call our office at 800-676-5295, or complete our contact form for a complimentary consultation.
Our efforts on behalf of patients who have used Risperdal® cannot take away the pain, suffering and emotional damage they have experienced, but we can work to hold the manufacturer of this drug accountable for their dangerous actions.
